June 2nd Meeting: Chamber of Commerce Activities and Ironworkers Walk of Fame

Dawn Edwards, Executive Director of the Greater Mackinaw Area Chamber of Commerce, informed us of Chamber activities for the year at our June 2nd meeting at the clubhouse at 7:00pm.  The Chamber has three locations in Mackinaw: main office is in the Depot building in the Crossings; another office is in the Arnold Line Ticket office, and a third opened just this year, at the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Building right across from the Old Mackinaw Point Lighthouse on Huron Blvd.

Marilyn McFarland of MKM Concepts, also spoke of her project to establish an "Ironworkers Walk of Fame" in Mackinaw. Each ironworker would have his name inscribed on individual bricks in the memorial walkway, hopefully to be constructed on Huron Blvd., in the area of the Old Mackinaw Point Lighthouse.

Our hostesses were Sue Fuss and Vickie Teysen.

American Red Cross Blood Drives may change days

The Cedarbrook Village would prefer that the American Red Cross Blood Drives, now held on Wednesdays, be moved to Mondays, instead. This needs to be discussed and a decision made soon. Send in your opinion to either of the co-presidents.

Strawberry Social Slicing Session Soon! Volunteers Needed, Drawings for tickets to be held.

Strawberries, strawberries, for our July 4th Social, need to be prepared! That will take place on July2nd at 1pm at the clubhouse. We will see you there with your favorite slicing knife in hand! We have several tickets for the Icebreaker Mackinaw Museum, and four tickets for Shepler's Ferry. These will be drawn at this session. Contact Chair Joann and let her know when and how you will help.

ByLaws almost completed.

Our Bylaws Committee is crafting changes and new laws, which will be completed by July, after two readings at the June and July meetings. These were made after several circumstances necessitated changes last year. It seems our "foremothers' knew better than we do, what is needed by our club.
